Tucked into the forested slopes of the Cambrian Mountains, this is proper Mid Wales wildcamp territory — quiet, green, and miles from the hum of the A-road. It suits tent campers who want that remote feeling without going entirely off-grid, plus small campervans and caravans willing to negotiate woodland tracks. Powys walking country spreads out in every direction: high moorland, hidden valleys, red kites circling overhead. If you're after a site with a laundrette and a playground, this isn't it.
You've got basic washblock facilities — toilets and showers — which is all you really need when the trees and the birdsong do the heavy lifting. Campfires are sometimes permitted, so check when you arrive; if you get the nod, bring a grate and leave no trace. The vibe is properly low-key, the kind of place where you read by headtorch and wake to mist caught in the branches.
