Combines magnificent formal gardens, ancient woodland, and views of the Gothic manor house—perfect for mixing a gentle stroll with history and a National Trust cream tea stop.

Lanhydrock Great Wood and Beech Avenue walk, Lanhydrock

Meanders through National Trust woodland on well-maintained paths with gentle gradients, ideal for families and pushchair-friendly in dry conditions. Dogs welcome on leads. The ancient beech avenue is spectacular year-round, especially in autumn, while Great Wood offers peaceful trails beneath towering conifers and glimpses of Lanhydrock House. Short enough for little legs, with plenty of natural play opportunities among the trees.

Traces 47km across Cornwall from Padstow to Fowey, following ancient pilgrim paths through farmland, quiet valleys, and wooded sections with moderate climbs throughout. Best tackled in stages over multiple days rather than one go. Dogs welcome on lead near livestock. Not suitable for buggies due to stiles, uneven terrain, and muddy stretches after rain.
