Millennium Way

Follows a historic 100-mile trail from Middleton in West Yorkshire to Appleby-in-Westmorland, though most tackle shorter sections. Terrain varies from gentle canal towpaths and farmland to steep moorland climbs across the Pennines. Not buggy-friendly due to stiles, rough ground and significant elevation changes. Dogs welcome but need lead control near livestock. Rewards you with stunning Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley views, plus fascinating industrial heritage landmarks along the way.

Jorvic Way

Covers 104km of mixed terrain from York to Filey, following the historic route of Viking raids across the North York Moors. Expect gentle canal paths and farmland early on, then increasingly steep moorland climbs with challenging gradients in the middle sections. Not suitable for buggies or very young children due to length and terrain variety. Dogs welcome but must be under control near livestock. Campus Tree Trail

Meanders through the University of York's parkland campus, showcasing mature trees and landscaped grounds on mostly flat, paved paths. Perfect for families with buggies and young children – smooth surfaces throughout with no challenging terrain. Dogs welcome on leads. Ideal for a gentle educational stroll combining nature with striking 1960s architecture, plus you'll likely spot the campus lake and wildlife including ducks and geese.
