Somerset Space Walk

Stretches approximately 11 miles with interpretive panels marking scaled distances between planets in our solar system. Makes for an educational, accessible walk combining gentle exercise with astronomy – ideal for curious kids and anyone seeking level ground with interesting waypoints to break up the journey.

Quantock Greenway

Stretches 62.5km across the Quantock Hills with mixed terrain from gentle farmland tracks to moderate moorland climbs. Mostly suitable for older children and active families, though some sections are steep and rugged—not buggy-friendly. Dogs welcome throughout, making it popular with local dog walkers. Worth doing for sweeping Somerset countryside views, heather moorland, ancient woodlands, and the chance to explore this AONB's diverse landscapes over multiple outings or a serious day's hike.

River Parrett Trail

Follows the River Parrett for 80km from its source in the Dorset hills to Steart Marshes on the Bristol Channel, mostly flat with gentle gradients in the first 10km. Suitable for experienced older children on sections, but the full route's length and occasional muddy, uneven stretches make it unsuitable for buggies or very young kids. Dogs welcome throughout.
