The Skirrid trail in the Sugar Loaf and Usk Valley, East Wales
Climbs steeply through ancient woodland to the summit of Skirrid Fawr (486m), rewarding your effort with sweeping views across the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. The ascent is challenging with rough, uneven terrain and exposed sections near the top—not suitable for buggies or very young children. Dogs welcome but keep them close during lambing season. This historic hill, steeped in legend and geology, offers one of the best vantage points in the area for relatively modest distance.
